Elmina Hackworth

Elmina Hackworth of Homer Michigan, passed away peacefully in her sleep February 22, 2022. Elmina, or Aunt Miney, as she was known to so many was a long-time resident of Homer—with a large and extended family that she adored.

Elmina was born in McGuffey, Ohio on March 14, 1933. She was the youngest child of Cleveland and Maxine Patrick.

On December 31, 1948, Elmina married the love of her life, Clayton Hackworth.

When a job at the Calhoun Foundry became available, Clayton and Elmina settled in Homer, Michigan and it was here they raised their children, Gary, and Pam.  As a voracious reader, Elmina became a frequent visitor of the Homer Public Library and started the first book club in Homer.

Elmina was preceded in death by her husband Clayton, her parents Maxine and Cleveland Patrick and her sister Viola (Patrick) Spradlin and brother Ueal E. “Pat” Patrick.

She is survived by her son Gary Hackworth (Dawn Hackworth), daughter Pamela Hackworth McAndrews (Phil McAndrews). Her grandchildren Philip Hackworth (Lori Seckinger), Greg Hackworth (Nikki Hackworth), Dana Riske (Josh Riske), Clay McAndrews (Leslie McAndrews), Parker McAndrews (Bethany Peterson) and her great grandchildren Julia Riske, Gavin Riske, Emma Hackworth, Addison Riske, Miles Hackworth, Brooklin Riske, Henley Riske, Tessa McAndrews.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 303 S Hillsdale St, Homer, MI 49245. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 28, 2022, at the funeral home. Following the service, interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery.
