Dakota "Dokey" David James Moore

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of a young man gone too soon. 

Dakota David James Moore aka Dokey, 27, passed away unexpectedly on October 16, 2024. 

Dakota was born on November 20, 1996, to David Moore and the late Joslin Moon.

Dakota, despite his short time here with us, left an unforgettable impression on everyone he met. He will always be remembered for his big heart and free spirit. He had no fear and lived everyday like it was his last. The deep love he had for his family will always be cherished. He is loved by many and will be missed by all.

Dakota was an avid car enthusiast who loved working on cars, especially his Dodge Charger.

He leaves behind his father, David (Christy Schafer) Moore of Albion, a brother, Derek (Emily) Moore of Marshall, a sister, Jalinn Pennock of Battle Creek. Stepbrothers Austin (Tori) Perkins and Justin Perkins of Albion and stepsister Marissa Schafer of Homer. Grandparents Levi and Eula Moore of Marshall and Great Grandmother Irene Johnson of Homer. Aunts, uncles, nieces and many cousins that will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joslin Moon. Grandfather Mark Moon. Grandmother, Tonya Moon Jettner. Great grandfather, Bob Johnson and cousin Mitchell Holbrook.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Kempf’s of Homer, 303 Hillsdale Street, Michigan, with the funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. with DeWayne Johnson officiating. Graveside service will take place at Fairview cemetery in Homer.

Memorial contributions are suggested to American Foundation of Suicide Prevention or St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital.
