Barbara "Barb" (Cook) Hiscock

July 17, 1934 — September 10, 2022

Marshall

Barbara "Barb" Hiscock, 88, of Ceresco, Michigan passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall, Michigan.

She was born on July 17, 1934 to Albert and Lula (Barber) Cook in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Barb married Richard Hiscock on September 18, 1951 in Angola, Indiana, sadly he passed away on March 2, 1985. Not to be deterred, Barb went to work for Canteen Food Service Co. primarily at Kellogg Cereal Company, for 20 years, retiring in 2001. She was able to buy a house and made it her mission to pay the mortgage off in half the time.

Barb enjoyed being outside, flower and vegetable gardening. She looked forward to getting out of the house and going thrift shopping with her daughters and then had to stop at McDonald's to get a Coke, no ice. Barb loved her dog Sadie, and she had a soft heart for rescuing cats as well. She will be fondly remembered for being very organized, independent, and meticulous in how she dressed.

Barb is survived by her daughters; Cindy Hiscock of Ceresco, Michigan and Judith (Dan) McMillen of Delton, Michigan; her granddaughters; Jamie (Tim) Verstrate of Dowling, Michigan and Kate (Josh) Webb of Holland, Michigan, her great grandchildren; Asher Verstrate and Isabelle Verstrate, and her special friend, Kristine Madley of Perry, Michigan. Barb is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Richard D. Hiscock, her parents; her daughter; Debra Bauer, her son; Dale Hiscock, her siblings; Pearl Cook, William Cook, Jack Cook, Bonnie Allen, Russell Cook, Betty Richter, Robert Cook, Bethel Roberts, Tom Cook, Alton Cook, and Bonita Gates.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, 11:00 am at Oakridge Cemetery in Marshall, Michigan, with Rick Foster, officiating.

A Celebration of Life service for Barb will be held at a later.
