Virgil L. Craun, age 88, of Marshall, MI passed away Thursday, May 2, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 29, 1930 in Eaton Rapids, MI the son of Harry and Bessie (Gillet) Craun. Virgil married the love of his life Mary L. King on September 21, 1957. Together they had two daughters. He was employed with Charlotte Anodizing Products and retired after 30 years of employment.
Virgil enjoyed camping all over Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, the Rocky Mountains, and Yellow Stone. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and working on cars. Virgil had a beautiful vegetable garden. More than anything he loved his family, especially time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou, of 61 years; daughters, Connie (Mike) Holmes of Homer, MI, Teresa Craun of Marshall; grandchildren, Matt (Kelsey) Holmes, Kay (Joe) Zombie-Matrice; great-grandchildren, Evelina, Michael, Temperance, Haley, Peyton, Blake, Miley, Jaxson; many nieces and nephews. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Irene Brown and brother, Harry Russell.
A memorial service will be held at Kempf Funeral & Cremation Service, Marshall on Monday, May 6, 2019 at 11:00am with Pastor James Hackworth officiating. A private burial of ashes will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to Turning Point Ministries, 306 High Street, Marshall, MI 49068.
