Thomas N. VanZandt, 71, of Marshall died on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Oaklawn Hospital after being stricken suddenly at home.
Tom was born on May 25, 1947 in Battle Creek to Walter and Peggy (Dobbertien) VanZandt. He graduated from Marshall High School. On November 9, 1968, he married Faye Griffith in Marshall.
Tom retired in 2009 from Starr Common Wealth in Albion after working 30 years. He also served as a minister in the Old Regular Baptist Church for several years, and he had been a member of the Little Flossie Church in Kendallville, Indiana. Being a strong believer in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was a big love in his along with sharing that love with his family. Tom also enjoyed gardening growing many types of flowers and vegetables.
He is survived by his wife Faye of Marshall; children, Amy Wright and Thomas J. VanZandt both of Marshall; grandchildren, Dakota Trine, Mariah VanZandt, and Bret Mains; and two great-grandchildren Aydin and Ezra. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Barbara VanZandt.
Family will greet friends on Monday July 2, 2018 from 5-6pm at Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church, 159 Greenwood Drive Kendallville, Indiana 46755 with an evening service taking place at 6pm. Funeral services will take place at 9am on Tuesday July 3, 2018 at Little Flossie Old Regular Baptist Church. Family will gather with friends following the services for luncheon at the church. Interment will take place at 1:30pm on Tuesday July 3, 2018 at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Battle Creek. Memorial contributions are requested to the family. Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
