Sam Stephens

Sam Stephens, 66, of Marshall died on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at University of Michigan Hospital Ann Arbor surrounded by his family following a short illness.
Sam was born on February 5, 1953 in Marshall to Dempsey and Ethel (Halbert) Stephens. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1972. On June 3, 1973 he married Barbara Cole in Marshall.
Sam retired from Denso Manufacturing in 2006. He also worked several years at Collins and Aikman and Marshall Metal Products. Sam and Barb loved camping and traveling. They together spent the summers at Tri Lake Trails Campgrounds where he was a familiar face on the grounds and they loved spending the winters in Florida. Sam enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He loved to visit with anyone and never met a stranger. Sam also loved spending time with his family especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of Marshall; sons, Adam (Jami Towsley) Stephens and Kirk Stephens all of Marshall; two grandchildren, Josh and Jayden; siblings Thelma Stephens and Fred Stephens. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joe Stephens; and a sister Shirley Stephens.
A private graveside service will take place at Lyon Lake Cemetery at a later date. Family requests memorial contributions to the Remember-A-Vet in Battle Creek. Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
