Ruth V. Bamfield

Ruth V. Bamfield, 93, of Battle Creek died on May 3, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family following long illness.

Ruth was born on February 14, 1925 in Muskegon to Horance and Henrietta (Hancock) Tamblyn. She married Orville Major, and he preceded her in death in 1969. She later married John Bamfield, and he preceded her in death in 2000.

Ruth worked for Kellogg's for 25 years, and she retired in 1981. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church and the Kellogg 25 Year Club. Ruth enjoyed going to horse races and bowling. She was very crafty and painted on fabric, stamping, making greeting cards, and making baskets. Ruth loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her dog Henry and cat Oscar.

She is survived by her daughters, Sueann (Richard) Lackey of East Leroy, Wendy (Jerry) Vogel of Battle Creek; sons, Terry (Sherie) Major of Battle Creek, Ronnie (Karen) Major of Mattawan, and Kevin (Cheryl) Major of Kalamazoo; step-son Arnold (Carolyn) Bamfield of Augusta; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and good neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands ;a sister, Iris Leaf; and brothers Donald and Lewis Tamblyn.

Family will greet friends on Monday May 7, 2018 from 4pm-7pm at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services Marshall Chapel 723 US 27 North. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday May 8, 2018 at 11am at Trinity Episcopal Church, 101 East Mansion Street with Reverend Anne Schnaare officiating. Family will gather with friends in the parish hall following the services. Interment will follow luncheon at Battle Creek Memorial Park at 2pm. Memorial contributions are requested to Trinity Episcopal Church or Brookedale of Battle Creek. Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
