Obituary

Ronald B. Casebeer Sr., age 82, of Battle Creek passed away June 14, 2018 at Calhoun County Medical Rehabilitation Center in Battle Creek. He was born May 10, 1936, the son of Garold and Ocie May (Wickham) Casebeer.

Ron served in the United States Marine Corp from February 1958 until his honorable discharge as a Lance Corporeal in February 1964.

After leaving active duty, he married Diana L. Goodwin in 1963. Together they had 3 sons. They divorced in 1976. Ron met his companion, Catherine (Cathy Berry) Muma in 1983 and they remained together until her passing in 2007. Ron worked for Bushouse Volkswagen in Battle Creek as a mechanic and service manager until 1972 when he went to work for the Kellogg Company, where he worked until his retirement in 1996.

Ron was an avid tinkerer and enjoyed working on cars, repairing lawn mowers and bicycles and playing bingo. He also enjoyed gardening and planting flowers.

Ron is survived by his sons, Ronald B. (Sheila) Casebeer Jr. of kalamazoo, Doug (Sheri) Casebeer of Battle Creek, and Patrick Casebeer of Surprise, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Becky Muma; stepchildren, Bob (Pati) Muma, and Sandy (Muma) Keller; grandchildren, Shane (Amanda) Hammond, Beth (Josh) Marshall, Ronald B. Casebeer III, Nicole Casebeer, and Brianna Casebeer; cousin, Shirley (Casebeer) Crow; 6 great-grandchildren; and several; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Marian (Casebeer) Tooker, and his brother-in-law Berl Tooker.

Visitation will be held at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 2838 SW Capital Ave., Battle Creek Chapel on Monday June 18, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8pm with family present to greet friends at that time. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday June 19, 2018 at 12pm with Reverend Jim Codde officiating. Ronald will be laid to rest in Fort Custer National Cemetery following the service.
