Ronald Francis Barry

Captain Ronald F. Barry, age 67, of Battle Creek, MI, formerly of New York, passed away peacefully in the arms of his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 27, 2019 at his home. He was born on July 30, 1951 in Flushing, NY the son of John and Freida (Meyers) Barry. He proudly served in the United States Air Force working primarily with computers and retiring after 20 years of service. His last duty station was at the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center. While serving in the Air Force he liked to say, "He flew a desk". Ron worked for a number of years at the FAA in Battle Creek as their network administrator. In his youth, he enjoyed playing softball, volleyball, golf and was a member of many leagues. His favorite teams were Ohio State Buckeyes (go Buckeyes), New York Mets (let's go Mets)and the New York Giants. Ron was a member of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church, in Battle Creek, where he was currently the Treasurer and he thoroughly enjoyed teaching Sunday School. For about ten years, he went every Sunday after church to teach the biblical gospel to those in the Calhoun County Jail. More than anything, Ron loved his Lord.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda of 26 years; children, John (Andrea) Barry of Chicago, Daniel (fiancé Kira Smirnov) Barry of New York, Stephen (Deedee) Barry of Las Vegas; step-children, John Houston of Dell City, Oklahoma, Jim Houston of Richland; grandchildren, Charlotte Barry, Linus Barry, Summer Barry, Lucas Barry, and one on the way; step-grandchildren, Hailey and Maya Houston. He is also survived by Aunts Joan Sullivan and Mary Dilluvio, Cousin Patricia (PJ) Conaty as well as many other cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and Cousin, Billy Woods.

Family will receive friends at the Kempf Funeral & Cremation Services, Battle Creek on Friday, May 31, 2019 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm & 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:00am with Pastor Chuck Winter officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Grace Fellowship Music Department. Cremation will follow services. Burial of cremated remains will take place at a later date at the National Cemetery in Fort Custer.
