Richard "Dick" Wesley Seekman, age 79, of Battle Creek passed away on March 26, 2019 at his residence.
Dick was born on May 30, 1939 in Otsego, Michigan to John A. and Winnie (Zoet) Seekman.
Dick worked for Suburban Motor Freight for 18 years, retiring his career with the company in 1985.
Dick married Jane Cowie in Kalamazoo on December 1, 1979. They raised 4 children and shared 39 loving years together.
Dick was a tractor enthusiast. He loved restoring and collecting antique tractors. Dick was also a part time farmer, farming cash corps.
Dick is survived by his wife, Jane Seekman of Battle Creek; children, Richard (Tammy) Seekman Jr. of Radcliff, KY, Jeffrey Seekman of DeLand, FL, Lorrie Collick of Kalamazoo, and Greg Seekman of Battle Creek; step-children, Patricia Rumsey (Chuck) of Pawpaw, Norman Cowie (Sandy) of New Lenox, IL, James Cowie of Charlotte, NC and Allison Cowie of Bend, Oregon; sisters, Jo Anne Button of Otsego and Dorothy Hunt of Otsego; 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Winnie Seekman; and siblings, Marie Seekman, Eddie Mae Tripp, Shirley Vos, John Seekman and Harley Seekman.
Visitation will take place at the Battle Creek Chapel of the Kempf Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 2838 SW Capital Ave., on Thursday, March 28, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday March 29, 2019 at 11:00 AM. Dick will be laid to rest in Leroy Congregational cemetery follow the service.
Memorials contributions are requested to Southern Care Hospice. Denotations may be mailed to 1911 W. Centre Av., Suite 1, Portage, Michigan 49021.
