Richard D. Ludy

Richard D. Ludy, 96 of Marshall died on Monday April 30, 2018 at Eaton Community Palliative Care surrounded by family following a short illness.
Mr. Ludy was born on November 29, 1921 in Marshall to Ernest and Lelah (Milborn) Ludy. In 1939 he graduated from Marshall High School, and then he graduated from Albion College 1950 with a Business Administration Degree. In 1942, Mr. Ludy joined the United Sates Army Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1945. During his service he served in Europe where he fought at D-day and the Battle of the Bulge. On June5, 1949, he married Lois Wilson in Marshall at the Brooks Methodist Church.
In 1950, Mr. Ludy started working for Calhoun Federal Savings and Loan. He moved to Marshall in the late 1960s. In April 1985 he retired from Great Lakes Federal Bank after 35 years. He was a member of the Marshall United Methodist Church, Marshall Lions Club, member of the Marshall Country Club since 1939, a charter member of the Marshall VFW. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed reading, hunting and fishing. Mr. Ludy also enjoyed traveling and loved his dogs and cared for many dogs over the years.
He is survived by his wife Lois of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family will gather with friends on Monday May 7, 2018 from 9AM-11AM at the Marshall United Methodist Church 721 US 27 North, with a memorial service taking place at 11AM with Pastor Matt West officiating. Family will gather with friends in the fellowship hall following the services. A committal service will place at 2:30pm at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to Marshall United Methodist Church, Humane Society of South Central Michigan, or Oaklawn Hospice. Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
