Nancy Christine Mercer, age 72, of Marshall, MI passed away peacefully Monday, August 6, 2019 in the loving care of her family. She was born August 22, 1946 in Detroit, MI the daughter of Harrison and Evelyn (Mahrle) Royer. Nancy was a high school graduate from Marshall High School class of '64. Nancy was employed with Vandenburg TV and Appliance for several years as well as State Farm and other area businesses. From the very first moment Lewis Mercer met Nancy Royer, he was smitten by her. She inspired him to be his best self, and they married on December 17, 1983. Nancy and Lewis ("Butch") were inseparable.
Nancy enjoyed traveling, socializing, and being with her family and friends. She loved having an excuse to celebrate anything, especially her birthday. Relationships were very important to Nancy. Family was the most important thing to her in this world. Most of all, she wanted to be with her husband Lewis.
She is survived by her children, Melissa (John) Mercer-Tachick; grandchildren, Addison & Jacob Tachick; siblings, Helen "Suzie" Leboeuf, Connie Hunter, Sandy Hall, Ron Guile; cousins, Shirley Baker, Mary Tolf. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Mercer only 51 days before she passed; sister, Martha Guile; her parents; and infant son, Daniel George.
Family will receive friends at the Kempf Funeral & Cremation Services, Marshall on Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday, August 9, 2019 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Marshall United Methodist Church, 721 US Highway 27 N, Marshall, MI or Fredonia Grange 13738 C Drive S, Marshall, MI.
