Martha Washington (Alexander) Warsop

Martha Washington (Alexander) Warsop, 97, of Marshall, died on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Oaklawn Hospital.
Martha was born on February 22, 1922 in Clarence Township to Charles and Ruth (Bosserd) Alexander. She attended the one room school house in Rice Creek, and she graduated from Marshall High School in 1940. In 1945, she married Homer Devenney in Chicago. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1978. On December 26, 1979 she married Duane "Dude" Warsop in Fremont, Indiana. He preceded her in death in 1992.
Martha retired in 1985 from the Kellogg Company after working for 30 years. She also worked for a short time after high school for Sun Beam Café, Ben Franklin Dime Store and Furners Café. Martha also worked for Albion Malleable, Eaton Company, and Ronan & Kunzel. While she was living in Brookfield the late 1940's she and Homer owned and operated a grocery store. She was a member of the Kellogg 25 year Club, Marshall Women of the Moose #202, and the Rice Creek Ladies Aid. Martha spent many hours cross-stitching on Christmas stockings for her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing, going out to different restaurants, traveling, and going on fishing trips. Martha loved to cook and always try new recipes for her friends and family.
She is survived by her son Larry (Jackie) Devenney of Marshall; grandchildren Gail (Anthony) Rodgers, Karen (Jeremy) Preston, Elizabeth Devenney, and Jamie Devenney; stepdaughters Diane (Mark) Patton and Carol Warsop; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son Kevin Devenney; and a brother Richard Alexander Killed in the Normandy invasion during World War II and a sister, Jane Heisler.
Family will greet friends on Friday July 26, 2019 from 4-6pm at the Marshall Chapel of the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 Old US 27 North with a memorial service taking place at 6pm with Reverend James Codde officiating. Family will gather with friends following the services at the Marshall Chapel of the Kempf Funeral and Cremation Services Reception Hall. A private interment will take place at a later date at Rice Creek Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to the Rice Creek Ladies Aide or to the Moose Haven of Jacksonville FL.. Assistance with memorials is available at the Marshall Chapel of the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
