Marlene J. Murphy

Marlene J. Murphy, age 74, of Marshall, MI passed away peacefully Saturday, June 16, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Battle Creek, MI on April 29, 1944 the daughter of Melbourne and Eloise (Arnold) Spells. Marlene was a high school graduate of Harper Creek High School. She was an avid musician loving to play the piano. She spent many years teaching and played for Lyon Lake Methodist Church for many years. Marlene also enjoyed art, camping, cooking, hunting and working on the farm. She loved to line dance at the Country Fever and clogged with the Mill Creek Cloggers. Marlene was always there to help anyone in need and was a mother to many.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Richard; children, Kim Duckham of Marshall, Robert Caffrey of Marshall, Heidi (Randy) Hazel of Homer; grandchildren, Nichole (Josef) Mogharreban, Corrine (Greg) Scott, Jason Duckham, Leslie Toledo, Alexandra Hazel, Nicholas Hazel, Olivia Caffrey, Maddison Hazel, Madison Blowers, Elijah Hazel, Hunter Blowers, Izzabella Hazel, Todd Boyd, and Shawn Boyd. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Caffrey; her parents; siblings, Georgia Miknis, Errol Spells, and Ralph Legion, Sr.

Family will receive friends at Kempf Funeral & Cremation Service, Marshall on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00pm & 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 10:00am with Pastor Steve Meszaros officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to Michigan Music Association.
