Lila M. Laupp, age 93, of Marshall, MI, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 19, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 13, 1926 in Leslie, MI the daughter of Glenn and Pansy (Slusser) Shreve. Lila attended Marshall High School. She managed Dinner Bell for many years, a restaurant her parents founded. Lila married Orland J. Hughes on December 10, 1944 and together had 4 children. They spent 50 wonderful years together until his passing. After several years, Lila married Robert Laupp.
She was a Boy Scout leader and a member of the Hewit School Club. Lila loved her family, her flowers, bird watching, crocheting and camping at Tri-Lake Campground. She especially loved her cats, Burt and Buddylou.
Lila is survived by her children, Dennis (Judy) Hughes, David (Pauline) Hughes, Don Hughes all of Marshall, Donna (Dennis) Yates of Mishawaka, IN; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Pete) Macey; step-children, Wendy Horsmen, Tom (Vicki) Laupp, David (Moreen) Laupp; and step-son-in-law, Keith Walters. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Orland Hughes; second husband, Robert Laupp; brothers, Lyle and Junior Shreve; and step-child, Peggy Walters.
Family will receive friends at the Kempf Funeral & Cremation Services, Marshall on Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 10:00am to 11:00am. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 with Celebrant Jacob Washburn officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Pennfield Premier, 632 North Avenue Battle Creek, MI 49017 or CentraCare Pace Program, 200 W. Michigan Avenue, Ste. 103, Battle Creek, MI 49017.
