LaVern E. "Leo" Outman, 82, of Bellevue passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Borgess Medical Center following a long illness.
Leo was born on November 9, 1936 in Pennfield Township to Bernard and Dorothy (Seifke) Outman. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1955. Leo served two years in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1958. On March 26, 1960 he married Janet Ann Blake at the Bellevue United Methodist Church.
Leo worked for Hayes Machine in Marshall for 17 years. He retired in 2002. Prior to that he worked American Fire Pump and for Battle Creek Packaging. He was a member of the Bellevue Jaycee's and the Bellevue United Methodist Church Men's Group. Leo enjoyed watching westerns on ME-TV, movies, and sports. He also enjoyed playing cards and gardening.
Leo is survived by his wife of 58 years Janet of Bellevue; sons Mathew Outman, Patrick (Sue) Outman, Spencer(Chris) Outman, and Thomas Outman all of Bellevue; a granddaughter Savannah Outman; and brothers Richard (Amy) Outman of Battle Creek and Gerald Outman of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son in 1964; infant daughter Wendy Ann in 1972; brother Bernard Outman Jr.; and a sister-in-law Kay Outman.
A private service will take place at a later date. Family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association. Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
