Joyce Ruth Haman, age 88, of Battle Creek passed away November 10, 2018 at her residence.
Joyce was born September 14, 1930 in Marshall to Harold and Lois (Owens) Arnold. She graduated from Marshall Public Schools in 1948 and went on to earn her Associates Degree in Nursing from Kellogg Community College after the children were grown. Joyce worked as a Registered Nurse at the VA Hospital in Battle Creek for 15 years. She retired her career in 1994.
Joyce married Jack Haman in Marshall on July 11, 1954. They had 2 children and were married 64 years.
Joyce enjoyed sewing and traveling. She was an excellent cook and baker, and house-mom. Joyce was a previous member of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Battle Creek. She was also very active in the PTA when her children were in grade school. Joyce was a Girl Scout Leader as well as active in Boy Scouts. Growing up, Joyce raised horses and enjoyed showing animals in 4H.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Jack Haman of Battle Creek; daughter, Suzanne (George) Allen of DeWitt; son, Michael Jack (Pamela) Haman of Battle Creek; sister, Phylis Rosenau of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Lois Arnold; and brother-in-law, Gayle Rosenau.
Visitation will be held at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 2838 SW Capital Ave., Battle Creek Chapel on Friday November 16, 2018 from 3-5pm. A chapel service will take place at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens on Monday November 19, 2018 at 1pm with Pastor Adam Metzger officiating. Interment will follow the service.
