Joseph Bramble

Joseph Walter "Joe" Bramble, age 87, of Marshall died Saturday morning, January 12, 2019 at his home in the care of his loving family.
Mr. Bramble was born on May 19, 1931 in Marshall to Walter Samuel and Katherine Mildred (Boehmer) Bramble. He was a life long resident of the Marshall area and was a graduate of Marshall High School, class of 1949. Following his graduation, Joe, had been employed by the Post Cereal Company in Battle Creek from 1950 to 1951. He then served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1955. While serving in the army he was stationed in Hawaii and Germany.
Upon his return to Marshall Joe had been employed by St. Regis Paper and Carton Company until 1966. He then started a long working relationship with GM Fisher Body Shop in Kalamazoo. He retired in 1993 after 27 years of service there. Joe had a very strong work ethic and also engaged in farming his entire life. He would work the night shifts and then returned home to work on the farm during the day.
On April 30, 1955, he married the former Agnes Marie Woods in Marshall. The couple were married at St. Mary Catholic Church. They were very proud that they enjoyed 63 years of marriage.
Joe was lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was very active in the Knights of Columbus in Marshall. He had achieved the rank of 4th Degree Knight while being a member of the #5999 Council. Joe was also very interested in flying. He held his private pilots license and had owned several planes with his brother, Bob. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association E.A.A..
Joe had been very active in the Convis Township community. He served as the Township Supervisor from 1988 until 2000. The township experienced many positive changes and improvements, one of which was the was the construction of the new Township Hall in 2000.
The family remembers him as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed the large family gathering and celebrations. He loved family, flying, farming, hard work and his dogs.
He is survived by his loving wife, Agnes; daughters, Julia (Scott) Schafer of Marshall, Joan (James) Whitehead of Dexter, Jean (Don) Stavale of Hastings, Janice (Karl) Sieversten of Marshall and Joyce (Wayne) Irish of Marshall; sons, Bill (Kathe) Bramble of Marshall and Jim (Mandy) Bramble of Tucson, AZ. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; a brother, Robert L. (Pansy) Bramble of Brownsburg, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia LaForge.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Marshall Chapel of Kempf Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Services with a Rosary being held at 7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Friday, January 18, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Reverend Father Craig Lusk officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the St. Mary Christmas Dinner or to the Marshall Fountain Clinic. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
