James L. "Jim" Zienert

James L. "Jim" Zienert, 84, of Battle Creek died on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at his home.
Jim was born on September 27, 1935 in Jackson to Hugo and Charlotte (Vandenburgh) Zienert. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1953. In 1955, he married Elaine F. Williams. Their marriage ended in divorce. On April 25, 1981, he married Sharon L. (Mead) Pendill in Marshall at Christ Lutheran Church.
Jim retired from the TeKhi Service Center in 2008. Prior to that he worked for Cargo Heavy Duty in Kalamazoo, Greasley Truck Service, Tidey's Chevrolet, Riley Buick, and Hamilton Service. Jim attended Calvary Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Zion Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church in Jackson. He was a member of the Marshall Moose Lodge #676. Jim was an avid bowler and bowled on several different leagues in Marshall and Battle Creek.
He is survived by his wife Sharon of Battle Creek; children Renee (Frank) Lovett of Auburn, Indiana and Keith (Sheri) Zienert of Marshall; grandchildren, Aaron (Amanda) Zienert, Stacey (Josh) Lewis, and Addie (Dean) Mabus; step-grandchildren, Josh (Tracy) McCullough and Matt (Jenah) McCullough; five great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Kevin L. Zienert; and a brother Carl Zienert.
Family will greet friends from 10-11am on Friday October 25, 2019 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 1625 Capital Ave. NE, Battle Creek with a funeral service celebrating his life taking place at 11am with Pastor Thomas Townsend officiating. Family will gather with friends following the funeral service in the church fellowship hall. Memorial contributions are requested to Calvary Baptist or to Reflections Outcast Animal Rescue (ROAR), 534 Woodside Dr, Battle Creek, MI 49037.
