March 26, 1934 — November 27, 2018

Gretha L. Bennett, 84, of Marshall went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility following a long illness.

Mrs. Bennett was born on March 26, 1934 in Leachville, Arkansas, to Elmer and Zona (Jones) Gooch. She graduated from Leachville high school in Arkansas. On March 30, 1951, she married Billy Joe Bennett at Happy Corner Assembly in Leachville, Arkansas.

Mrs. Bennett enjoyed her time helping area youth through troubled times during her 28 year tenure at the Calhoun County Juvenile Home. Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Marshall Assembly of God, and later the Glad Tidings Assembly. She enjoyed being outdoors working in her flower gardens, sewing, crocheting, and was willing to try any other type of craft. Mrs. Bennett had a joy for music. She was a part of the Bennett Trio, who had a Sunday morning program on the Marshall radio station WMRR, which was titled "Songs That Make Calvary Real." She also played keyboard, piano, and the accordion. She had the most generous of hearts, helping anyone in time of need.

She is survived by her husband Billy of Marshall; children, Phyl Bennett, Gary (Karla Kendall) Bennett, Venjeana (Richard) Foerster all of Marshall, Estrelete' (Randy) Scherer of Ceresco, Kimberly (Grant) Shippell of Marshall, Angela (Greg) Mason of Wisconsin; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a sister LaVonda Walker of Missouri.
