Ella Lea Hindenach

Ella Lea (Yaudes) Hindenach, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away Thursday evening, September 13, 2018, in Traverse City, Michigan, surrounded by her loving family. She was 90 years old.

Ella Lea was born in Marshall, Michigan on June 11, 1928 to Carl and Iva Yaudes. She lived in Marshall most of her life and was a graduate of Marshall High School, class of 1946. In her youth, Ella worked as a secretary for the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek. She then did bookkeeping for her husband's business, Marshall Plumbing and Heating.

She was married June 28, 1948 to James "Jim" Hindenach in Marshall. The couple enjoyed a long and happy marriage until his death in 2004.

Following their retirement, they traveled throughout the United States and spent their summers at Crystal Lake in Beulah, Michigan and winters in Kissimmee, Florida.

Throughout her lifetime, she was a kind loving, generous mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Ella had a beautiful soul and will be sadly missed.

Together they raised three daughters, Rebecca (Dave) Dessecker of Manistee, Michigan, Brenda (Cliff) Hindenach-Babcock of Battle Creek and Jamie (Bill) Purvis of Traverse City, Michigan. They had a son, James Hindenach that died shortly after birth. Ella is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Nicole, Lori, D.J. Jesse, Adam, Eli and Graham; 6 great grandchildren, Avah, Ryder, Reid, Katherine, Gwen and Genevieve; and several nieces.

She was the youngest of her family, everyone had passed away before her by many years. Her parents, Carl and Eva Yaudes; brothers, Carl and Alvin; and sisters, Leona and Evelyn.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 AM to 11 AM at the Marshall Chapel of Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 Old US 27 North, Marshall. A funeral service to celebrate the gift of her life will be held 11 AM Friday, September 21, 2018 at the funeral home with Reverend James Codde officiating. Interment will take place in Oakridge Cemetery at a later date.

She was very fond of her cats and would like to have memorial donations made to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan or to the Calhoun County Animal Center in Battle Creek. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
