Edward M. "Charlie" Broughton, age 86 of Battle Creek passed away September 26, 2019 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
Edward was born on May 23, 1933 in Marshall to Liston and Carrie (Williams) Broughton.
Edward graduated from Marshall Public Schools with the class of 1951. He married Jean D. Patton in Battle Creek in 1955. Together they had 3 children.
Edward entered into the United States Army in 1953. He proudly served our country until his honorable discharge in 1955.
After his military career, Edward worked as a maintenance engineer for the Kellogg Company for 25 years, retiring in 1995.
Edward enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing cribbage, golf, and cards.
Edward is survived by his son, Bruce Broughton of Battle Creek; daughter, Bridgette Broughton of Lansing; 13 grandchildren; and sister, Gloria Beaver of GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Liston and Carrie Broughton; wife, Jean Broughton; daughter, Belinda Armstrong; brothers, Johnny, Joe, Grielly, Liston, and Herbert; and sisters, Emma Margie, Esther, and Geraldine.
Edward will be laid to rest in Oakridge Cemetery on Saturday September 28, 2019 at 10:30am.
The family is being served by the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 Old US 27 North, Marshall Chapel.
