Daniel "Danny" M. Neil, age 47, of Springport passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family and close friends following a courageous battle with cancer.
Danny was born July 13, 1970 in Albion to Frank and Kathleen (Baker) Neil. He graduated from Albion High School 1989 and attended Ferris State University. On April 11, 1997 he married Tanya J. Nelson in Marshall.
Danny earned his Advance Emergency Medical Technician in 1992 at Albion Area Ambulance Service. He worked at all Calhoun County Area Emergency Medical Service Agencies. Most recently he had been at Jackson Community Ambulance. Danny also served on the Springport-Clarence Fire Department for 13 years where he was a Lieutenant for four years. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed hunting with his son, and supporting his nieces and nephews at their sporting events. Danny loved watching the University of Michigan Sports, the professional sports teams Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings. Danny lived his life after his diagnosis as #dantough.
He is survived by his wife, Tanya J. Neil of Springport; Son, Michael (Kelsey) Neil of Parma; Siblings, Christopher (Jennifer) Neil of Olivet Stephanie (William) Barnes of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Matthew (Aimee) Neil of Albion, Mark (Anne) Johnson of Fort Worth, Texas, Scott Johnson of Boston, Massachusetts, April (James) Lee of Rock Hill, South Carolina; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Thomas "Mike" (Natasha) Nelson, Mandi (Scott) Davis, and Ben (Brittany) Kirk; good friends, Adam Day and Thomas Pitt. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial gathering will take place at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, Marshall Chapel 723 US 27 North on Thursday April 12, 2018 from 3PM-7PM with family present to greet friends at that time. A memorial service celebrating his life will take place at 10:30AM Friday April 13, 2018 at the Goodrich Chapel United Methodist Church on the Campus of Albion College. Interment will follow at Albion Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to Springport/Clarence Fire Department or Fight Colorectal cancer (www.fightcrc.org).
