Curtis Grove Katz

April 29, 1943 — November 6, 2019

Curtis Grove Katz, age 76, of Tekonsha died Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo following a short illness.

Mr. Katz was born on April 29, 1943 in Coldwater, Michigan to Joseph Edward and Daisy Marie (Tyler) Katz. He was a lifelong resident to this area and was a graduate of Tekonsha High School, class of 1961. Curtis had been employed in the Warehouse Department at the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek for 32 years. He retired in 1995. Curtis also engaged in farming all of his life on the family farm in Tekonsha.

Curtis was a member of the Kellogg 25 years club and the Marshall Moose Lodge #676. He was an avid outdoorsman and participated in many activities. Every winter, he along with three close friends traveled to the Upper Peninsula to snowmobile. He enjoyed playing golf, motorcycles and old cars. He owned two fully restored old cars. He along with is brother, David, took yearly trips to Canada to go fishing. He is remembered by his family as a great man, a loving father, grandfather and brother. He always enjoyed a good joke and a spirited game of cribbage.

He is survived by a daughter, Angela (Mark) Thompson-Peterson of Mattawan, Michigan; grandchildren, Cameron (Olivia) Thompson and Corey Thompson; great grandchildren, Adelynn and Leighton; his loving companion of 23 years, Carol Sims Flynn; and brothers, David Katz and Fred Katz both of Tekonsha; nephews and nieces, Chris (Hannah) Katz, Mark (Emily) Katz, Tim (Christina) Katz , Annette (C.J.) Apel, Greg Katz, Joe Katz Stacy Katz and Tricia Katz

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Daisy Katz and a brother, Chris F. Katz.

A graveside celebration service will be held 1:30 PM Monday, November 11, 2019 at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha. The family is being served by the Marshall Chapel of the Kempf Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Services.
