Obituary

Charles Eugene "Chuck" Arey, age 68, of Parma, Michigan passed away on April 24, 2018 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. He was surrounded by his family.

Born February 25, 1950 to Leon and Loretta (Slowey) Arey. He attended St. John Catholic School in Albion and graduated from Albion High School in 1968. He continued his education attending Albion College, graduating in 1972.

Chuck joined his father in business at the Albion Auto Mart after graduation and was joined later by his brother, John.

While attending Albion College, he played baseball for the Britons under coach Morley Fraser. They won the MIAA Championship in 1971 and 1972. The 1971 Baseball Team was inducted into the Albion College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999. He continued to support the Albion College Athletic programs, proud to be a Briton! He was even more proud when his daughter, Ryan, followed in his footsteps and graduated from Albion College in 2011.

Chuck was an avid golfer and followed the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie (Turnbull) ; daughter, Ryan (Eric) of Bethesda, MD; brother, John (Debra) of Jackson; aunt, Marie Stellingworth of Albion; cousins, Ann Rumler (Joe), Mary O'Neil (Mickey), Kathy Robinson (Dean), David Stellingworth (Terry); brother-in-law, John Turnbull of Bloomington, IN; niece, Brooke Turnbull and nephews, Drew and Jack Turnbull.

The family will receive friends from 10 AM to 11 AM Monday, April 30, 2018 at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 1111 Carlton Blvd, Jackson, MI 49203. A Memorial Mass to celebrate the gift of his life will be held at 11 AM at the Church with Reverend Fr. Timothy MacDonald officiating. A private family committal service will be held in Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
