Obituary

Carol L. Lipscomb, 75, of Battle Creek died on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family following a short illness.
Carol was born on February 24, 1944 in Kalamazoo, to Donna J. Boughneer adopted and raised by Marvin and Ina Mackinder. She graduated from Poly Tech High School in San Diego, California in 1962. On March 27, 1983 she married Robert Lipscomb in Battle Creek.
Carol worked for many years at the Cut Rate Supermarket in Battle Creek and Great Lakes Bank. She excelled at being a mother, wife, grandmother, and aunt. Carol was an avid reader of everything, and really enjoyed reading Dean Koontz. She also enjoyed art and could paint and sketch, and riding her bicycle on the rails to trails all over Michigan and enjoyed the trail at South Haven. Carol was an avid bowler and took part in many different leagues at M-66 and Knottkes Bowling Alleys. She loved being outdoors spending time with nature up north at the cabin. Carol loved spending time with family and friends especially cook outs by the pool.
She is survived by her husband Robert "Bill" of Battle Creek; son Brian Jenkins of Union City; grandchildren Heather Jenkins of Kalamazoo and Dalton Jenkins of Coldwater; great-grandchildren Marley and Liam; half brothers Gene, Jerry, Chuck, and Jake; mother-in-law and father in-law, Bill and Autumn Lipscomb; sisters-in-laws, Khrystyne (Richard) Jacoby, Pam(Ken) Smith, and brother-in-law Mark (Ellen) Lipscomb; and her beloved cat Daisy and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and step mother Ina Mackinder; son Fredrick Jenkins; brother Gary Mackinder; and half sister Ann Dunston.
Family will gather with friends from 2pm-3pm on Thursday October 3, 2019 at the Battle Creek Chapel of the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 2838 Capital Ave. SW with a funeral service celebrating her life taking place at 3pm with Pastor Mark Lipscomb officiating. Interment will follow at Newbre Cemetery. Family requests memorial contributions made to Humane Society of South Central Michigan.
