Theodore R. Konkle

Theodore Roy "Ted" Konkle, age 84, of Albion died peacefully early Tuesday morning, February 27, 2018 at his home in the loving care of his family.
Mr. Konkle was born on September 5, 1933 in Albion to Walter R. and Mary F. (Paskett) Konkle. He was a life long resident of the Albion area and was a graduate of Washington Gardner High School, class of 1953. Following his graduation from high school, Ted entered in the United States Army, serving our country during the Korean War from 1953 thru 1956. Upon his return from his military service, Ted joined his family working for the family owned business, Decker Manufacturing. He soon left Deckers to begin a new venture as a founder and Co-Owner of Sheridan Industries in Albion. He faithfully served the company for many years, retiring in 1987.
On April 18, 1953, he married Joanne J. Cunningham in Albion at St. John Catholic Church. The couple had celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Ted was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Albion and attended St. John Catholic Church. He enjoyed summering at his lake home on Duck Lake and took great pride working on his well-manicured lawn. Ted enjoyed the social contacts he was able to make and maintain through playing golf and bowling in the Knights of Columbus leagues at Tomac Wood Golf Course and Albion Country Lanes.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne; daughters, Kathi Konkle of St. Petersburg, FL, Kim Konkle of Battle Creek and Laura Konkle of Albion; son, Lin Konkle of Albion; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; a brother, Bernard (Katie) Konkle of Albion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Konkle; granddaughter, Jesemy Konkle-Hammontree; brothers, Edwin Konkle, Henry "Hank" Konkle; sisters, Gertrude Orlowski, Agnes Schultz and Genevieve Konkle.
The family will gather and meet with friends from 10 AM to 11 AM Thursday at St. John Catholic Church, 1020 W. Irwin Ave., Albion, Michigan.  A joint Memorial Mass will be held for Theodore and his wife, Joanne 11 AM at the church with Reverend Fr. Joseph Gray officiating.
