Bruce A. Waidelich

Bruce A. Waidelich, 82 of Marshall died on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Oaklawn Hospital.

Bruce was born on May 25, 1935 at home in Marshall Township to George William and Oleta (Herrick) Waidelich.  He graduated from Marshall High School in 1954.  On September 21, 1957 he married Roxena "Roxie" Wolf at the Albion United Methodist Church.  She preceded him in death on February 23, 2014 after 56 years of marriage. Bruce joined the U.S. Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1957.

Bruce was a Quality Control Machine Operator for Eaton Company in Marshall for 41 years, and he retired in 1995. Prior to that, he helped his parents at the Coffee Pot Restaurant in Marshall, and later would help his wife at the restaurant for several years until they sold it in 2001.  He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Marshall Moose Lodge #676, and he served the community for 16 years in the late 1950s to the early 1970s a firefighter with the Marshall City Fire Department.  Bruce also drove the Marshall Ambulance for many years giving back to the community he loved to serve.  He enjoyed going to dances with his wife Roxie and following the country band "The Bandits".

He is survived by his children; Steven A. (Kimberley) Waidelich of Maryland, Brenda J. (Bryan) Kidder, Linda S. Waidelich, and Pamela A. Waidelich all of Marshall; seven grandchildren, Derek (Kate) Chism, Matthew, Andrew, and Madison Kidder Abigail (Dan) Irons, Kasey (Trent) Knapp; great-grandchildren, Aubree Waterman, Jozlyn and Emelia Chism, Daniel, Amelia, and Dejuan Irons, and Charlie Knapp; brother Thomas Waidelich of Marshall; and a sister Betty Waidelich of Monroe, LA .  He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother Dorothea Waidelich; granddaughter Chelsea Waterman; brothers Glen Waidelich and William Waidelich Jr. and a sister Donna Barnes.

Family will greet friends on Thursday December 14, 2016 from 4-7pm at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Service Marshall 723 US 27 North.  Funeral service celebrating his life will take place at 10 am on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Marshall with Reverend David Boedecker officiating. Family will gather with friends before interment in the Kempf Family Funeral Reception Hall. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.  Memorial contributions are requested to the Christ Lutheran Church or the Marshall Firefighter Association.  Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Service
