Yoshiko Brooks

Yoshiko Brooks, 81, of Marshall formerly of Baltimore, Maryland died on Sunday, August 22, 2011, at home.Mrs. Brooks was born on November 9, 1929, in Formosa, Japan, to Tadayoshi, and Sadako (Kawai) Maemoto. She then moved to Osaka, Japan, and in 1948 she was married to John Brooks in Japan, and moved to the United States to Maryland. He preceded her in death in 1990.Mrs. Brooks stayed at home and raised her family. She enjoyed traveling, and indulging in the good food while traveling. She also took pleasure in working in her garden, crocheting, knitting, and hand sewing.She is survived by her children: Julia (Martin) Goins of Marshall, Rodney Brooks of Meza, AZ, Ronald Brooks of Leesville, IN, Tracy Brooks of Baltimore, MD. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Lana Michaud in 2001, and two sisters, Sayoko, and Sumiko.Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Saturday from 1-2pm with funeral services celebrating her life taking place at 2pm. Family requests memorial contributions be made to the Japan Tsunami Relief Fund.
