Veda A. Herrin 84, of Marshall, died on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Oaklawn Hospital.Mrs. Herrin was born on May 4, 1929 in Marshall to Lloyd and Carrie (Snyder) Whittaker. She was raised by her grandparents Harry and Anna Snyder. She graduated from Springport High School in 1947. On April 28, 1951 she married William J. Herrin in Arizona.Mrs. Herrin was a homemaker staying at home and raising her family. Once her children were grown, she worked at the various shoe stores, book stores, and jewelry stores in the Marshall area. Mrs. Herrin enjoyed scrapbooking , collecting anything about John Wayne, and playing Yahtzee with her husband nightly. She enjoyed spending time with her family and rarely missed any activities of her grandchildren.She is survived by her husband, William of Marshall; daughters, Molly Bylow and Sharon Hudson both of Battle Creek; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; half brother, Lloyd "Buzz" Whittaker; sister, Mary Louise Hage; son, David Daker; grandson Nathan France; son-in-laws, Michael Hudson and Edward Bylow.Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home, 723US 27 North, Marshall, on Monday, January 27, 2014 from 11am-1pm with family present to greet friends at that time. Funeral services celebrating her life will take place at 1pm on Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home with Pastor David Nicholls officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. Family will gather with friends following the committal services at the Kempf Funeral Home Reception Hall. Memorial contributions are requested to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital. Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Funeral Home.
