Ruth Yaudes, age 91, of Marshall, died on Monday night, Oct. 16, 2006 at Tendercare of Marshall, while in the loving care of her family. Ruth was born December 3, 1914 in Homer to George Tillman and Lena I. (Buske) Rowley. She grew up on the family''s farm in rural Homer. Ruth and her father disagreed on her need to attend Homer High School and graduate. Ruth moved from home and lived at the local funeral home, where she worked through school. Ruth was a member of the 1932 Homer High School graduating class, and her father proudly attended the ceremony. On August 16, 1938, Ruth was married to Elvyn F. Yaudes in LaGrange, Indiana. The couple made their home in Battle Creek. When Elvyn left to serve in WWII, Ruth worked at Freddie''s Market in Marshall, and lived in an apartment near the store. When Elvyn returned, the couple moved back to Battle Creek and made their home there until moving to Marshall in 1955. Ruth was a homemaker and mother, but also worked outside the home. She had worked at Marshall Tavern, Kellogg Company, and Wash King. She also took in ironing at her home. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she was active for many years. She had been a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Altar Guild, the Friendship Circle and women''s groups. Ruth enjoyed crocheting and made the family many afghans. She liked ceramics, doing crafts and working puzzles. After her husband Elvyn''s death, she volunteered at Tendercare. Surviving are her daughter and son in law, Marjorie and Robert Kiessling of Marshall, son George E. Yaudes of Battle Creek, and daughter-in-law Linda Yaudes of Battle Creek; 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Elvyn on December 22, 1993, her son Richard E. Yaudes on Sept. 28 of this year, and her 2 brothers Meryl and Murray Rowley, and 2 sisters, Frances L. Rowley and Hazel Koons Pratt. Friends may call at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2PM to 9PM, where family will be present to greet friends and share memories 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM. Funeral services to celebrate her life and her Lord will be held on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 12:30PM with Rev. Roger James of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Ft.
