Robert Miller

Robert "Bert" Miller age 87 of Albion passed away Monday November 9, 2015 at his sister Jeans home in Albion Twp surrounded by his family. Bert was born on September 27, 1928 a son of Rolland and Rita (Knuth) Miller in Albion. He graduated from Albion High School with the class of 1948. Bert worked as a Mason Tender for Bill Barnes Construction in Albion until he retired. After retirement he mowed lawns in Albion. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church in Albion, Michigan State Racing Pigeon Association, Leisure Hour Club, and Albion Historical Society. Bert enjoyed smelt dipping, watching the Detroit Tigers and Lions, going to Albion High School basketball games, but most of all raising and racing pigeons.Surviving Bert are his sisters, Nancy (Jerry) Lawhead of Auburn, AL, Jean Miller of Homer, brother, Roger Miller of Houston, TX step daughter Donelta Day of Albion, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Violet Miller, and a brother Marion Miller.Friends may call at the Kempf Family Funeral Homes, Homer Chapel at 303 S. Hillsdale Street in Homer on Thursday from 2PM-8PM. The family will be present to greet friends and share memories from 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM.Funeral services will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 100 Luther Boulevard in Albion on Friday, November 13 at 10AM with Rev. Dennis W. Matyas officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Homer. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Education fund or the Albion Twp Fire Dept.
