Robert Douglas "Doug" Vogel Jr., 69, of Albion died on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at his home.
Doug was born on August 5, 1943, in Columbia, South Carolina, to Robert Douglas and Priscilla (Nelson) Vogel Sr. On March 25, 1966, he married Carol Manke in Jackson.
Doug worked for Union Steel in Albion for 26 years and he also owned and operated his own Locksmith business in Albion for over 30 years. Doug was a member of Free Will Baptist Church in Albion, AARP, Western Michigan Locksmith Association, and the Spectacle Lake sportsman's club. He loved Ford Trucks, and helping others withhis Locksmith work. Doug would always be noted for saying "God loves you and so do I." He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Albion, three daughters, Bonnie (Tony) Branham of Albion, Connie Vogel of Battle Creek, Kitty (Donnell) Jones of Albion, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a brother Donald Vogel of Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Lavern "Pudge" Vogel.
Visitation will take place at the Grace Free Will Baptist Church in Albion 16680 East Michigan Ave Albion 49224, from 11am-1pm on Monday July 29, with funeral services taking place at 1pm with Pastor Earl Martin officiating. The family will gather with friends following the services in the church fellowship hall. Memorial contributions are being requested to the family with checks payable to Carol Vogel.
