Myron McKeague

Myron "Mike" McKeague, age 82, of Marshall died Tuesday, November 27, at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility.Mr. McKeague was born on June 14, 1925 in Fullerton, South Dakota to David Edward and Octavia Lucille (Trine) McKeague. He was a long time resident of this area and had been employed by the Eaton Corporation for 27 years. Other places of employment included Crowell Carton Company in Marshall and Oliver Company in Battle Creek.On August 14, 1948, he married the former Rose Mary Wilkerson in Marshall. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2006.Mike enjoyed camping at Tri-Lakes Trails, traveling and square dancing with his wife, Rose. The couple loved dancing together at Marshall and Battle Creek Square Dance groups. Together, they formed the "Marshall Mates" Square Dance Club.His family remembers him as the kind of man that could fix anything. He loved working with his hands and doing woodworking. The home that he and Rose shared together in Marshall was built entirely by Mike. At one time he was employed by the City of Marshall to make plumbing repairs to the Brooks Memorial Fountain.He is survived by daughters, Sylvia (Lee) Long of Marshall, Cynthia McKeague of Battle Creek, Debra (Moises) Garcia of Battle Creek and Pamela (Rodney) Parson of Battle Creek, Paula (Ken) Harris of Olivet and Myra McKeague of Marshall; 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sister, Vera Hodges of Kentucky; brother, Donald McKeague of Union City; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diania McKeague; grandson, Timothy Long; sisters, Shirley Logan and Leila Richardt; and brother, Bobby McKeague.The family will receive friends after 6:00 pm Thursday and 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 Friday at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home. A funeral service to celebrate the gift of his life will be held at 2:00 Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the funeral home with Celebrant Bob Doner officiating. Interment will follow in Lyon Lake Cemetery.Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility or to the Alzheimer''s Association.
