Max Faurot

Max Faurot, age 64, of Marshall died Friday morning, April 29, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital in Battle Creek, with his family by his bedside.Mr. Faurot was born on July 25, 1946 in Marshall to Willie E. and Deloris J. (Lauer) Faurot. He was a life long resident of Marshall and was a graduate of Marshall High School. Following his graduation from high school, Max served on the Marshall Police Department. After serving for only one year in Marshall, he was recruited by the Calhoun County Sheriff Department, serving from June 1969 until his retirement in October 1997. He served as the Night Shift Sergeant. Max also held the position of Field Training Officer and he was a certified instructor in PR-24. Max was certified to instruct in many different aspects in law enforcement. He taught classes not only locally but also to other law enforcement departments throughout the state of Michigan and Ohio. Max was exceptionally good at his job. He was honored as Officer of the year by the Harper Creek Optimist Club while serving as a Deputy with the Sheriffs Department. Max's Building Search Techniques were published and are still in use today. He also had been used as a quoted source in the law enforcement book, Tactical Edge.On June 28, 1974, he married the former Mary Gill in Marshall. The wedding ceremony took place in the United Methodist Church.Max was a devoted family man. He enjoyed taking his family on camping trips. When his children were young, he enjoyed watching them participate in sporting events.Max also enjoyed working on his computer and networking socializing with his many friends. He was a member of the Marshall Masonic Lodge.He is survived by wife Mary; children, Dale (Mary) Faurot of North Carolina, Yvonne (Mohamad) Kaouk, Max Faurot and Jesse Faurot all of Texas. Also by his grand children, Laurin, Roseanna, Brandi, Brittni, Dalton, Dylan, Bethani, Devin and Ayeh; and his sister. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis W. Faurot.As per his request, no services will be held. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Thin Blue Line of Michigan. Assistance with memorials is available at the Craig K.
