Marguerite Heidenreich

Marguerite Heidenreich, age 93, of Marshall, passed away at Tendercare of Marshall on Friday, July 14, 2006. Ms. Heidenreich was born December 5, 1912 in Marshall to Rev Christopher and Mary (Wirth) Heidenreich. She has lived in Marshall all of her life. She attended Marshall schools and graduated from Marshall High School in 1931. She attended Valparaiso University for two years and graduated from Argubright Business College and Western Michigan University. She was a member of Alpha Phi Delta Sorority at Valparaiso University. She was a licensed certified public social worker for the State of Michigan, having worked in the Battle Creek office for 25 years, retiring in 1980. Ms Heidenreich was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church and belonged to many of it''s organizations there. She represented her church as Church Extension Representative throughout the state of Michigan. She was a Campfire Guardian. During WWII she served as a Grey Lady at Percy Jones Hospital , and was a driver for the Red Cross. She was a member of the Oaklawn Hospital Auxiliary. Ms. Heidenreich loved to travel, and had done so extensively. She especially enjoyed visiting the Heidenreich Castle in Austria. She also spent many winters in Lakeland, Florida. Ms. Heidenreich began voice and piano lessons at an early age. She was involved in music and her church her entire lifetime. She enjoyed knitting, needle point, oil painting, reading, her flower garden, her home, her many friends and especially her young nieces and nephews. Ms. Heidenreich was the last member of the first generation in her family . Her parents arrived in Marshall Jan. 1, 1896 where her father became Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church after being called from his pastorate in Frankenmuth,Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Theophil, Dr. Walter, Dr. Lawrence, and Rev. Herbert Heidenreich, and her sister, Marie Hobus. Surviving are her nephews, Walter Wirth Heidenreich, John Wirth Heidenreich, Dr. Robert Heidenreich, Dr. James Heidenreich, and Frederick Heidenreich, and nieces Marilyn Sherwood, Katherine Heidenreich, Carolyn Fox, Marry Littlebar, and Linda Winter; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Sunday at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home 1PM to 9PM, where family will be present to greet visitors and share memories 1PM-3PM and 5PM-7PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11AM at Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in the family plot at Oakridge Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials be directed to Zion Lutheran Church for their Music Program. Assistance with memorials is available at Kempf Funeral Home.
