Lu Adams

October 4, 1934 — October 4, 2006

LU ADAMS Lu Adams, age 72, of Marshall, died at her home in the loving care of her family on Wednesday morning, October 4, 2006. Lu was born Myrtle Lowesia Schultz to Wynote and Neva (Robbins) Schultz in Jackson on October 21, 1933. Her family moved around the southeast Michigan area, living in Jackson, Pulaski, Hanover and Tekonsha. She has spent the majority of her life, the past 53 years, in the Marshall area. Lu''s marriage to Robert L. Foster in 1950, later ended in divorce. After her divorce, while cooking and waitressing at the former Dinner Belle Restaurant in Marengo Township, she met Arthur C. Adams, a regular Dinner Belle patron. Art fell in love with Lu, and her six children (who thought they might have scared Art off!). The couple were married on November 4, 1967 in Battle Creek. Lu had also worked as a nurses aide at the former Provincial House in Marshall, and as a manicurist at Bill''s Hair Stylist in Marshall for seven years, until her retirement in the early 1990''s. She was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church. Her cooking skills were exceptional, preparing meals with homemade noodles and cinnamon rolls that were favorites. Art and family always knew that if "Lu was cooking it was good!". Lu enjoyed organizing yearly family picnics. She liked to crochet, and loved country music. Surviving are her husband Art; 4 daughters, Donna (Richard) Moyer of Homer, Carol (Rex) Holibaugh of Homer, Deb Foster of Battle Creek, and Shirley (Robert) Slone of Albion; a son, Dennis Foster of Bellevue; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Donna Studer of Eugene, Oregon, Notta Leese of Jackson, Penny Herring of Tucson, AZ; a brother, Jerry Schultz of Leslie; a special cousin and best friend, Doris Dunlap of Battle Creek; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Larry Joe Foster in 1981. Friends may call at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 5, from 2PM to 9PM, where the family will be present from 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM to greet friends and share memories. Funeral services to celebrate her life and her Lord will be held on Friday, October 6, at 1:30PM at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Karl Strenge officiating. Cremation will follow services. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the family. Assistance with memorials available at Kempf Funeral Home.
