Louise Kennedy, age 91, of Marshall, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 at her home. She was born May 10, 1918 in Marengo Township to DeVille H. and Jessie I. (Johnston) Hubbard. Louise was a descendant of Cyrus and Clarissa (Loomis) Hubbard, Marshall pioneers in the early 1830's. Louise graduated from Marshall High School in 1936 and attended University of Michigan. She was a lifelong area resident. Louise was married to Diamond Alexander on January 17, 1946 in Battle Creek. He died on August 28, 1948. Louise proceeded with life after Diamond's death as a single working mother with their children three month old John and 16 month old Laura. She successfully pursued her career and raised her family as an attentive loving mother. She was the Personnel Director of St. Regis Paper Company in Marshall, retiring from there in 1964. Louise was a licensed realtor with the Belcher Agency after that. Louise purchased her first 40 acre farm in Marengo Township in 1940. She continued to build her farming operation in Marengo Township over the years. On December 28, 1963 she was married to Kenneth S. Kennedy. She and Ken enjoyed flying together in their twin engine Beechcraft with Louise taking a flying course that enabled her to operate the airplane. She was a member of the Aircraft Owner and Pilots Association. They spent winters in Port St. Lucie, Florida for over 20 years where she was a member of Club Med Sandpiper Country Club. Louise and Ken traveled extensively in their motor home and were members of many motor home groups. Louise was a member of U.S. Power Squadron. Ken preceded her in death July 22, 1994. Louise was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school many years and belonged to several church guilds. She was a member of Mary Marshall Chapter , Daughters Of The American Revolution and Elizabeth Marsh Warren Chapter Colonial Dames, 17th Century. Louise was a founding member of the Marshall Civic Players serving on their Board of Directors for many years. She is a former member of Marshall Country Club. Louise is a proud member of the National Rifle Association. She enjoyed family, friends, reading and extensive traveling. Surviving are her daughter Laura Louise Alexander of Saline, her son John Peter (Christine) Alexander of Perrysburg, Ohio, step-daughter Kathleen (William) Emery and step-son David W. (Diane) Kennedy all of Port Huron; grandchildren Brandy (Andrew) Wimberly of Perrysburg, Ohio, Rebecca Craver of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, John Huntington Alexander of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; step-grandchildren Kimberly (Steve) Salemi of St. Louis, MO, Andrew Emery of New Jersey, Timothy and Ryan Kennedy of New York; great-grandchildren Audrey Christine Wimberly and Alexander Coriston Wimberly of Perrysburg, Ohio and Hailey Joy Craver and Christian Paul Craver and Blake Alexander Craver all of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Her family also includes nieces Denise (Charles) Connelly and Vallerie (Larry) Leonard all of Marshall and Janine (Mark) Bennett of Ann Arbor; and nephew DeVille Hubbard of The Colony, Texas, and great nieces and nephews. Louise was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother Captain DeVille H. Hubbard Jr. . Very importantly, Louise wanted everyone to remember ..."Every one of you.always love, YOU are my sunshine!
