June Julia Miller, age 95, of Marshall died Monday, October 25, 2010 at Oaklawn Hospital.Mrs. Miller was born June 10, 1915 in Clarence Township to Robert Rice and Gertrude Heloise (Trefry) Alexander. She was a life long resident of this area. She attended the Rice Creek School and graduated from Michigan Center High School. She then attended County Normal in Marshall and taught in the rural country schools for several years.On June 19, 1937, she married Harold W. Miller in Elkhart, Indiana. In 1948, they purchased her family farm in Rice Creek; the same house she was born in. They farmed the 120 acres for many years.June was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher and served on several boards in their church. June and Harold were charter members of the Christ Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Rice Creek Ladies Aid. The couple enjoyed spending many winters in Cedar Key, Florida and vacationing at their cabin in Northern Michigan.Family was very important to June and she enjoyed family gathering; getting to spend time with her grandchildren. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, bird watching and traveling.She is survived by a daughter, Wanda (James) Wilson of Bath; grandchildren, Christopher (Amy) Wilson, Michael (Jennifer) Wilson and John Wilson; great grandchildren, Rachel, Erin, Sean, Connor and Jacob; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gertrude Alexander; her husband, Harold on July 1, 1990; a brother, Clifford Alexander; and sisters, Opal Osborne, Berteen Keicher and Barbara McClintock.The family will receive friends from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM Thursday at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Marshall. A funeral service to celebrate the gift of her life will be held 11 AM Friday, October 29, 2010 at Christ Lutheran Church.Friends who wish make memorial contributions to the Christ Lutheran Church or Oaklawn Hospice Care.
