John Kozicki

John Kozicki, age 81, of Tekonsha, Michigan died early Saturday morning, January 28, 2012 at his home in the loving care of his family.Mr. Kozicki was born on March 10, 1930 in Two Hills, Alberta, Canada to Andrew and Sophia (Kitt) Kozicki. In the Mid-1950's he moved to the United States, taking up residence in Jackson, Michigan. He moved to Homer in 1958 and lived there until moving to Tekonsha in 1992. He became a naturalized citizen of the United States of America in 1961On June 15, 1958, he married the former, Carol Jean Dowding in Homer.John had been employed as a Machine Repair Technician for Garrett Office Machines. He retired in 1975. Prior employment included working in the Albion Area Oil Fields and at the Union Steel Products and also at McGraw-Edison in Albion.John enjoyed working around his home keeping everything in working order. He had been involved in 4 H Clubs as a leader helping with woodworking projects.He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol Jean Kozicki; daughters, Karen (Scott) Curry of Jonesville and Patty Kozicki of Christmas, Michigan; sons, Ken Kozicki of Homer and Tom Kozicki of Meeker, OK; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Yaremko of Vegerville, Alberta, Canada; and brother, Walter Kozicki of Vegerville, Alberta, Canada; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Steve, Billy, Emil and Orest and sisters, Annie, Julia, Mary, Nancy and Fay.The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:30 to 1:30 at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Marshall. A prayer service will be held at 1:30 PM and a graveside service will follow in West Eckford Cemetery with Reverend William Cole officiating.Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to Oaklawn Hospice. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
