Isabel Serbantez

Isabel Serbantez, 72, of Lafayette Indiana, formerly of Marshall died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette.Ms. Serbantez was born on July 8, 1936, in Laredo, Texas, to Bernardo and Cira (Salazar) Gamez. She graduated from Saint Augustine High School in 1955 in Texas. She then received her Associates degree in business from Laredo Business College.Ms. Serbantez worked for State Farm Insurance Company as an under writer assist form many years in Marshall and in Laredo. She retired in 1995 due to illness. Ms. Serbantez was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church in Marshall. She enjoyed playing bingo, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Rene and Angela Serbantez of Lafayette, Indiana, three grandchildren, Isiah (Madi) Serbantez, of Marshall, Jeffrey and Samantha Serbantez both of Lafayette, Indiana, and a great grandchild Payton Serbantez of Marshall. She is also survived by two sisters Santiaga (Ricardo) Gonzalez, and Blandina Gamez all of Laredo, Texas, and special friend Roman Cervantes of Lafayette, Indiana. She was preceded in death by a son Raul Serbantez June 1994, her parents and a brother Juan Gamez.Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-8pm with family present to greet friends from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A rosary service will take place at 6pm. A funeral mass will take place at 10:30am on Thursday at Saint Mary Catholic Church with Reverend Father Stephen Naas officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
