Irvin "Irv" Pratt, age 64, of Marshall, died peacefully in his sleep at his home on Friday, April 27, 2012. Irv was born on October 10, 1947 in Pinetop, Kentucky to Girvin and Myrtle (Sloane) Pratt. He came to Marshall as a child and has lived here since, attending Marshall Schools. While in school he met the love of his life, Jane Amaro. The couple were united in marriage on June 17, 1967 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marshall. It was a loving and fruitful marriage with Irv and Jane raising their family here and making them their main focus. Jane became ill and preceded Irv in death on October 31, 2005. His love for Jane has continued each day even after her passing and now he is reunited with his beloved Jane. Irv was a professional truck operator and retired from United Parcel Service in 2010. Prior to UPS he drove for McNicholas Trucking of Romulus, Ryder Truck, and Overnite. Prior to his trucking career he worked at St. Regis Paper Company. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a devout Christian. Since Jane's passing Irv's main social activity was eating at Roma's Café where he enjoyed good food and good company! He enjoyed watching old western movies, especially anything with John Wayne in it. Irv was a dedicated fan of the Duke! Irv was an ardent Redskin sport fan, attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events over the years. Irv is survived by his and Jane's children Elizabeth R. "Lisa" Pratt of Marshall, Michelle J. (Tony) DeVore of Marshall, Jonathon I. "J.P." Pratt of Hawaii, Christina N. (Tai) Apisa of Wilmington, NC, and Scott A. (Erika) Pratt of Ferndale, 8 grandchildren Jordan J. Pratt, Joshua A. DeVore, Tai Apisa III, Koa Apisa, Tui Apisa, Manu Apisa, Sofia Pratt and Maya Jane Pratt; his brothers Wayne Pratt of Sturgis, Merle Pratt of Las Vegas, Edgar Pratt of Homer and Clyde Pratt of Marshall, his sisters Monie Hackworth of Homer, Wanda Goble of Homer, Evelyn Sturgill of Marshall and Marie Rewa of Marshall and many nieces and nephews. Besides Jane, Irv was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Sam Pratt and John Pratt and sister May Sparks. Friends may call at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 723 US27 N., Marshall on Tuesday from 2PM to 8PM where family will be present to greet friends and share memories from 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7PM.Funeral services celebrating Irv's life and his Lord will be held at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Wednesday, May 2, at 10:30AM with Rev. James Codde and Deacon James Mellen officiating. Irv will be laid to rest next to his beloved Jane at St. Mary Cemetery. After committal services the family invites family and friends back to the Kempf Funeral Home Reception Hall for refreshments and to continue to remember Irv (and Jane!).Memorial contributions are being requested to the family.
