Guadalupe Aguilar, age 100, of Marshall died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 in the loving care of her family at her home.Mrs. Aguilar was born on June 11, 1908 in Mexico. She moved with her family to Charlotte, Michigan and eventually to Marshall. In 1968, she was preceded in death by her husband, Zaragoza Aguilar.She had been employed as a laborer in the agriculture industry, working for many area farms. Other employment includes Oaklawn Hospital as a Nurses Aide, the Pickle Factory in Marshall and Win Schuler's.Mrs. Aguilar was always in the company of many loving children for whom she provided child care. She served as the God Mother for many children and had been involved in over fifty baptisms. She was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting and making crafts. Mrs. Aguilar was a very loving person and provided assistance to many families in need of assistance.She is survived by a daughter, Inez (Mario) Garcia of Chicago, IL; 13 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by daughters, (infant) Concepcion and Josephine Zapata; and five siblings.The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 8:00 Friday at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home. A Rosary will be said 7:00 PM Friday. A funeral Mass will be held 1:30 PM Saturday at St. Mary Church in Marshall with Reverend Fr. James Barrett officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the St. Jude Children's Hospital. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
