George Shepherd

George Shepherd, age 60, of Marshall, passed away Friday evening, May 27, 2011 at Lifespan Hospice Residence in Battle Creek. George was born in Marshall on November 10, 1950 to Martin and Mildred (King) Shepherd. He attended Marshall schools. On July 21, 1969 George married the love of his life, Alice Jean Castle. The couple moved to Mason. While living there George worked on the Street Department for the City Of Williamston. He retired from there in 1989. His beloved Alice preceded him in death on January 8, 1992. George moved back to Marshall after her death. He worked here for a time at Midwest Foundry. For the last ten years he had many health issues which made him unable to do the things he loved except spending time with his children and grandchildren. Prior to that he was an avid hunter and loved fishing. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass and watching wrestling. George is survived by his children Ted (Lori) Shepherd and Roger Shepherd of Marshall and Kim (Zach) Collins of Homer; 5 grandchildren, Sabrina and Seairra of Marshall, Xavier, Elijah and Mystique of Homer; a brother Rick (Anita) Shepherd, and sisters Eva Morris, Geneva (Carl) Miller and Florence Wichowski all of Marshall; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean, son Jason, parents Martin and Mildred, grandparents Johnnie and Lillie Shepherd and 2 brothers-in-law Dave Morris and Jerald Wichowski. Friends may call at Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 723 US27 N., Marshall on Tuesday from 5PM-8PM.Services will be held on Wednesday at 11AM at Graveside in Woodlawn Cemetery in Leslie.Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
