Florence Lautenslager, 92, of Marshall, formerly of Eckford, died on Friday, May 22, 2009, at Tendercare of Marshall.Mrs. Lautenslager was born on February 11, 1917, in Detroit, to Stephen and Josephine (Shieve) Lake. She graduated from the Albion High School Adult Education Program in 1968. She married Richard Lautenslager on October 23, 1937, in River Rouge, Michigan. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1987.Mrs. Lautenslager worked as a clerk for the Marshall Chronicle for 25 years, with responsibilities in advertising and home delivery, retiring in 1980. After this retirement, she enjoyed being a "grandma" by working as a baby sitter for several years. She enjoyed reading, working on word search puzzles, and watching Jeopardy. Mrs. Lautenslager enjoyed visiting with her friends and family. She loved people and would be a familiar face at community events. Mrs. Lautenslager especially loved spending time with her great-granddaughters.She is survived by her daughter Georgann (Rodney) Detty of Marshall, and son-in-law Bob Rapp of Eckford. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rick (Jim O'Conner) Rapp of Palm Desert, California, Kelli Rapp of Eckford, and Greg (Sandy) Labun of Ceresco, and three great-granddaughters, Macy Labun, Amanda Labun, and Mackenzie O'Conner-Rapp. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Patricia Rapp, two grandsons, Baby Boy Rapp and John Labun II, sister Irene Lake, and three brothers Raymond Lake, Steve Lake, and George Armstrong.Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 26, from 4-7pm with family present to greet friends at that time. Funeral services celebrating her life will take place at 11am on Wednesday, May 27, at the funeral home. A private interment will take place at West Eckford Cemetery at a later date. Mrs. Lautenslager enjoyed her gift of giving; to honor this tradition the family requests memorial contributions be given to Marshall Area Community Services (MACS).
