Elva Hall 85, of Marshall died on Wednesday February 6, 2013, at his home.Elva was born November 17, 1927, in Emma, Kentucky to Johnnie Lee and Minnie (Davis) Hall. On January 8, 1949, he married Genevieve M. Wood in Marshall.When Elva was a young boy, he worked in the coal mines in Kentucky. When they moved to Michigan, he was a welder for many years at different foundries in the area. He would work for Warren-Scherer for 13 years retiring in 1981.Elva enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. He enjoyed gardening, but especially sitting on the swing with the love of his life watching the flower garden grow.He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Genevieve of Marshall four sons, Joseph (Christine) Hall of Marshall, Dennis (Sheryl) Hall of Arizona, Paul (Brenda) Hall of Marshall, Ronald (Cheri) Hall of Grand Rapids, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters Pearl Tackett of Marshall, Thelma Carpenter of Ohio, Elevlen Doris Brewer of Ohio, Lavada Browning of Eaton Rapids, and a brother Kelly Hall of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Fanny Mae Couch, Trennie Shepherd, brothers, Russell, Luther, James Joseph, and Aaron Hall.Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Friday from2-8pm with family present to greet friends from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral services celebrating his life will take place at 2pm on Saturday, February 9, 2013, with Pastor Barry Chaffin and Mr. Dennis Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Porter Cemetery. Family will gather with friends at the Marshall Church of Christ following the cemetery services. Family requests memorial contributions be made to the Oaklawn Hospice or Lifespan Hospice. Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Funeral Home.
