Edna Stone

Edna M. Stone, age 75, of Marshall passed away January 31, 2016 at Bronson At Home Hospice Residence in Battle Creek.Edna was born on February 21, 1940 in Springport, MI to Burdette and May (Hands) Walker. She graduated from Springport High School in 1958. Edna married John W. Schubert in Homer, MI in June of 1965 and together they moved to Marshall in 1966. John preceded her in death in April of 1979.Edna worked in the kitchen of the Oaklawn Hospital for 26 years. Previously, she worked in the kitchen of the Morgan Medical Facility for several years. She retired her career in 1993. Edna married Robert E. Stone at the West Eckford Miss Church in 1984. They shared 31 loving years together. Edna enjoyed camping and collecting owl figurines.Edna is survived by her husband, Robert, step-son, John Trotter of Battle Creek; 5 step-grandchildren; niece, Kathy Richter; nephew, Jonathan Walker, sister, Martha Britten of Lansing; she was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Irving Walker, Merrit Walker.Relatives and friends will be received on at the Kempf Family Funeral Homes, Marshall Chapel, 723 US 27 North, Marshall on Thursday February 4, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:00 am. A funeral service celebrating the life of Edna will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Walter H. Nichols Jr. of Christian Fellowship Church of Marshall officiating. A private interment will take place at Albion Memory Garden Cemetery following the service.Memorial contributions are requested to the Oaklawn Hospital or the Humane Society of South Central Michigan.
