Doris M. Herman, 87, of Marshall, died on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Maplewood of Marshall surrounded by her loving family.Mrs. Herman was born on December 11, 1924, in Kalamazoo to Charles E. and Emma L. (Moser) Totten. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1942. On January 26, 1946, she married James M. Herman at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Marshall. He preceded her in death on February 10, 1992.Mrs. Herman started working for the Eaton Company in Battle Creek in 1942. She retired from the Marshall Eaton Plant in 1984, after 42 years of service. While working for Eaton's, Mrs. Herman was on the original committee for the opening of Eaton Community Credit Union which is now the Marshall Community Credit Union. Mrs. Herman was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church, and former member of the Marshall Women of the Moose. She was an avid bowler and bowled on many different leagues at Marshall Lanes and continued bowling until she was 79 years old. Mrs. Herman enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, and going to and watching NASCAR races. She will be remembered as a sweet lady with the ability to make any one smile and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.She is survived by her brother Doug (Sonja) Baldwin, sister-in-laws Betsy Herman, Katherine Herman, brother-in-laws Jack (Jackie) Herman, and Ken Woods all of Marshall. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two step sisters Veva Titus, Arlene Schneider, and a step brother Ward Baldwin.Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Thursday 2-8pm with family present to greet friends from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with a rosary service taking place at 6:30pm. A funeral mass will take place at 1:30pm on Friday, December 30, 2011, at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Marshall with Reverend Father Stephan Naas officiating. Interment will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery. Family requests memorial contributions be made to the Oaklawn Hospice or to the Jacob Dannenberg Memorial through the Marshall Community Foundation.
