Dale Petersen age 75 of Tekonsha passed away on Saturday June 25, 2016 at Colonial House Adult Foster Care in Marshall surrounded by his family. He was born on September 23, 1940 a son of Harvey C and Mary E. (Russell) Petersen on the family farm in Clarendon Township. Dale graduated from Homer High School with the Class of 1959.On September 25, 1960 he married Marylee Herrick in East Eckford she preceded him in death on December 8, 2000. Dale was a lifelong farmer on the family farm in Clarendon Township. He enjoyed farming, the Detroit Tigers, MSU Spartans, Watching the Fire Works in Homer every summer, Going to Steam Thrasher and Tractor shows with his brother, but most of spending time with his family and watching his granddaughter play sports. Dale served 36 years on the Clarendon Township Zoning Administration and many years on the Tekonsha Fire Board.Surviving Dale are his children, Carmen Petersen of Fort Atkinson, WI, Cheryl (Charles) McKean of Tekonsha, Terry Petersen of Tekonsha, granddaughter, Alexis McKean of Tekonsha, grandson, Anthony McKean of Tekonsha, brother, Robert (Darlene) Petersen of Tekonsha, several nieces and nephews, and longtime family friend, Gloria Combs. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marylee Petersen, sister, Lois TerBerg.Relatives and friends will be received from 2-8 PM on Tuesday June 28, 2016 at the Kempf Family Funeral Homes Homer Chapel 303 S. Hillsdale St. Homer, MI 49245. A funeral service celebrating the life of Dale will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the funeral home with Dr. Phil Herman O.b.i.S.B officiating. Interment will follow at West Clarendon Cemetery in Tekonsha. Memorial contributions may be made to the Homer Fire Works fund. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
