Charles O. Williams, 75, of Battle Creek died on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.Mr. Williams was born on December 13, 1936, in Battle Creek to William and Margery (Finley) Williams. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1955. On October 16, 1956, he married Beverly J. Hughes in Angola, Indiana.Mr. Williams was paralyzed for many years due to a hunting accident, but he did not let that keep him down! He owned and operated his own electric shaver company for several years in Battle Creek. He also worked as a dispatcher for Emmett rescue Squad for many years. Mr. Williams was a member of Southern Michigan Amateur Radio Society (SMARS). He had his call sign WD8LJF for over 30 years. Mr. Williams enjoyed working in his garage, and playing with radio controlled cars. He loved spending time with his family especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.He is survived by his wife Beverly of Battle Creek, daughter Ruth Dadow of Marshall, two grandchildren Jennifer (Ryan) Dye of Battle Creek, and Brian Dadow of Marshall, and one great-granddaughter Riley Dye. He is also survived by his brother Robert Williams and a sister Nancy (Ken) Bell all of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Ruth Williams.Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-8pm with family present to greet friends at that time. Funeral services celebrating his life will take place at 11am on Friday May 18, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Timothy Olsen officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. Family requests memorial contribution be made to the Oaklawn Home Health Care or to the Calhoun County Relay for Life. Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Funeral Home.
